Cogmed Working Memory Training

What is Working Memory?

Working Memory can be defined as the ability to actively retain information for a short period of time (just a few seconds) and be able to use this information.

Some examples of using working memory are:

  • Remembering a phone number while dialing it
  • Remembering what you have just read
  • Remembering the name of a person you have just met.

Problems with working memory are of crucial importance for those who struggle with attention deficits. Persons who have deficiencies in working memory may experience an inability to concentrate, control their behavior, or complete school assignments. Cogmed Working Memory Training is a comprehensive five-week program designed to improve working memory significantly.

Through sustained mental exercises that are calculated to be just hard enough—challenging but not impossible—working memory capacity can be increased.
